Thousands of consumers today have cars hat they would like to give as donations. As a matter of fact, car donations are one of the many things that provide charities with the funding that they need to provide services like researching cures, providing humanitarian aid, feeding the homeless, supporting veterans and much more! However, if you are like most people, chances are, you want to know what will happen to your car donation before you give it up. With that said, below you will find the steps that your car donation will take as it becomes the source of funding for charity!
Step 1: The Vehicle Donation Is Picked Up
The first step for a vehicle once it has been donated, is for it to be picked up and brought to the donations facility. Cars Helping Charities makes accepting nationwide car donations possible by contracting with nationwide towing companies. Therefore, no matter where you are, if you have a car donation, we would love to come pick it up. Oh yea, and don’t worry about towing expenses, all expenses associated with car donations will be absorbed into the sale of the car meaning…you pay absolutely nothing to donate your car!
Step 2: The Car Donation Is Analyzed
Once the donated automobile is towed to the donations facility, the next step for the donation is the analysis. The automobile donation analysis gives us a few pieces of information about the vehicle. First and foremost, this analysis lets us know if there is anything wrong with the car donation and the extent of repairs needed. Information that allows us to determine if the car will be a junk car or if it is worthy of being fixed. If the potential value increase of the car donation is higher than the cost of repairs, in most cases, we will repair the car donations in hopes of landing a higher dollar donation!
Step 3: The Automobile Donation Is Fixed Or Stripped
If the vehicle donation was deemed to be worth the repairs it needed, the next step for that donation would be to get repaired. All repairs necessary including mechanic and aesthetic repairs will be completed to ensure the highest dollar donation will be made possible through the vehicle donated. If the car donation is deemed to be a junk car (Meaning the repairs would cost more than they would increase the potential value), in most cases, the car will be stripped. This means that all working parts will be removed and prepared for sale. Also, all scrap metal and anything else of value located within a junk car will be removed and prepared for sale.
Step 4: The Vehicle Donation Is Sold
Once the vehicle has been either fixed or stripped, it is time to turn your car donation into a cash donation for the charity that you care about. To do so, the car donations will be sold. Generally, working and reliable automobile donations will be sold at auction to the highest bidder. This process helps to ensure the highest dollar donation for the charity and tax deduction for you as the donor. Adversely, the stripped working parts from the junk cars will either be sold to consumers, mechanics or junkyards while the scrap metal will be sold to a scrap metal yard. All of which brings in donation funding for the charity that you care about!
Step 5: The Donation Is Made To The Charity
The final step after a car is donated is for the cash donation to be made to the charity that you have chosen. Once the vehicle donation is sold, the cost of processing the vehicle will be deducted from the total amount of sale. These costs include repairs, towing, cleaning, auction fees, ect. Once the costs of processing the automobile donation has been paid, the remainder of the proceeds will be given to the charity that you chose when you made the decision to donate your car!
