So, you are probably on this website because you have a late model, junk or even up to date great running car that you would like to donate to a great cause. However, as with any donation, when you make the decision to donate an automobile, chances are, you are going to want to make sure your donation goes to a great cause. As a matter of fact, there are quite a few people out there that haven’t donated yet simply because they are not sure how the process works. With that said, here is a step by step process as to what happens once a vehicle is donated.
After You Donate A Car
Step 1: The Tow Away: The first step, we will call the tow away. It is the simple process of us coming to your home, place of business or local parking lot to pick up the automobile that you have so generously donated. Don’t worry, this doesn’t cost you anything! We have nationwide contracts with leaders in the towing industry to ensure that we will be able to cover the cost of towing of any vehicle that is donated! As a matter of fact, we pay 100% of the cost of the donation up front so that you don’t have to worry about it!
Step 2: The Analysis: The next step for your car donation is called the analysis. Once your vehicle donation has made it to one of our donations facilities, we will analyze the donation that you have given. This process allows us to find out a few pieces of information including if the car is a junk car, running car or junk car worth fixing as well as the perceived value of your donation and the steps we should take to generate the highest dollar donation and tax deduction!
Step 3: The Fix or Strip: The next step that your car donation will take is called the fix or strip. If your car donation seems to be an automobile that is worth being fixed, meaning that if fixed, it will bring a higher donation amount in excess of the cost of repairs, it will be. Adversely, if the automobile that is donated seems to be a junk car meaning that it will cost more to fix than the repairs would be worth, it will be stripped of all scrap metal and working parts. The cars in good condition and after fixing or striping all will be cleaned and prepared for sale.
Step 4: The Sale: The next step that your car donation will go through is self explanatory. The sale is the process of selling the donation to generate a cash donation that will be given to charity. Generally, in this stage, running cars will be sold at auction. This process ensures the highest dollar amount will be won for the charity that you have chosen. The scrap metal will generally be sold to a scrap metal yard at a contracted premium and the working parts will be sold to mechanics, consumers or junkyards to get the most out of your donation! All of these processes ensure the highest dollar amount will be donated to the charity and will be deducted from your taxes at the end of the year!
Step 5: The Cash Donation: The final step for your donation is to give the cash donation to the charity that you have chosen. In this step, the cost of processing the donation is deducted. This cost includes things like towing, repairs and auction fees. Once the costs of processing the car donation are deducted, the proceeds generated from your donation will be given to the charity that you chose when you decided to donate your car!
