STRIVE Preparatory Schools

STRIVE Preparatory Schools, originally West Denver Preparatory Charter School, is a Denver-based network of free, open enrollment, public charter schools committed to providing every student with an excellent, rigorous, college-preparatory education. Our skilled teachers prepare students for the challenges of high school and college in a small, safe and highly-focused learning environment.

STRIVE Preparatory Schools was established to help change the achievement rates of many west Denver students of color from low-income communities, who were leaving the eighth grade seriously behind in critical basic skills of math, reading and writing, and enter local high schools only to continue this trend.  STRIVE Prep formed to provide another choice for parents and families.

Led by founder, Chris Gibbons, the first school, opened as West Denver Prep, was approved for a three-year charter from the Denver Board of Education in November, 2005, and opened its first middle school in August 2006 with 100 students in 6th grade. Due to demand from families, in August 2009, we opened a second middle school campus in southwest Denver called Harvey Park (now Westwood), followed by two middle school campuses in northwest Denver in August, 2010, Lake and Highland, and two more in far northeast Denver in August, 2012, Montbello and Green Valley Ranch.  In August, 2012, our first high school opened in southwest Denver, STRIVE Prep Science, Math & Arts (SMART) Academy.   We currently have seven campus locations serving 1,700 students in grades 6-9, with additional campuses planned.

Your generous donation will enable us to reach more students, so they too can achieve academic success.
