The Colorado Center for the Blind serves blind and low vision individuals from age 5 to 95. Starting with our Confidence Camp for Kids, a one- or two-week summer skills camp for students age 5 to 10 to our Older Blind programs for those 55 and older experiencing vision loss, our programs teach skills and offer community. We also have year-around youth programs that offer positive role models and exciting experiences, like skiing with a guide and dissecting a shark that build confidence in middle school and high school students. Our cornerstone program is our Independence Training Program (ITP) for blind people ages 18 and up whose goals include employment. In every aspect of our programs, we emphasize blind people teaching other blind people and developing skills and belief in one’s capacity to succeed.
We believe that blind people can do anything. So, every day, we encourage and challenge our students—and they come to understand their potential as they build the skills and confidence to live the lives they want. Because when you believe in yourself and experience a thriving community of positive blind people, nothing can hold you back from pursuing your dreams.
The Colorado Center for the Blind is located in Littleton, about a dozen miles south of downtown Denver, and proudly affiliated with the National Federation of the Blind. Founded in 1988, the Colorado Center for the Blind has grown into a world-renowned blindness-skills training center attracting students from across the United States and beyond. The positive attitudes and achievements of our alumni across the globe draw more students to the Center each year in search of the tools and self-confidence to forge their own paths to success.
