TESSA is the primary agency dedicated specifically and solely to the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault in El Paso and Teller Counties in Colorado. TESSA strives to realize our vision of a safe community free of personal violence for all. We seek to accomplish this goal in a variety of ways: Provide immediate safety for women, children, and other victims escaping abuse through our safehouse; Empower survivors through our advocacy and counseling programs; and Create a safer future through education and outreach to schools, businesses, and other organizations.
Domestic violence and sexual assault are not easy topics to address, but with 1 in 6 households affected by domestic violence, and 1 in 4 women in Colorado becoming victims of sexual assault, it is a prevalent social ill that our friends, neighbors, and coworkers face every day.
TESSA provides training sessions for businesses, churches, schools, and other organizations. Presentations are customized to fit the needs of your particular organization and audience. Topics may include Teen Dating Violence, Healthy Versus Unhealthy Relationships, “It’s Your Business” (a comprehensive understanding of the effects of domestic violence on the workplace), or Spiritual Abuse.
TESSA offers a wide variety of prevention, intervention, advocacy and clinical services, including: 24 Hour Crisis Line, Safehouse, Children’s House (residential and non-residential), Victim Advocacy, Counseling Program, Community Outreach and Volunteer Program.
