Sangre de Cristo Hospice

Sangre de Cristo Hospice was founded in the mid 1970s when a small group of caregivers working at the State Hospital in Pueblo chose to be part of this new idea of health care called hospice. Later that group moved into the city’s hospitals, and in 1984 became a free standing entity.  Since that time, Sangre de Cristo Hospice has grown to service more than 1,000 patients per year with a service area of more than 20,000 square miles of Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico.

We have long set the standard for end-of-life care in Southern Colorado, and we continue to and address the individual needs of the patients and families we are privileged to serve. As a nonprofit, we care for everyone who needs us, regardless of ability to pay. We offer grief support to anyone who has suffered a loss, whether or not their loved one was our patient. And we provide educational offerings on all matters related to death and dying throughout the area. Since the beginning of our work in Colorado we have made it our mission to preserve the dignity of our patients and provide them with a world class level of care.

If you’re living with a severe illness, caring for a loved one who is gravely ill, or grieving the loss of someone near to you Sangre de Cristo Hospice can help. For more than 25 years we have provided the comfort of our compassionate medical, emotional and spiritual care to people of all ages who are coping with end-of-life challenges. We’re here for you, too, with expert services that can ease your burden and enhance your quality of life at this vulnerable time.

Your generous donation will help us to support those with no insurance or means to pay for our care.  Your gift will benefit those in our community – friends, family,  and neighbors – when they need it most.
