Mountain Tiger Society

The Mountain Tiger Society is a non-profit organization that helps those with developmental disabilities overcome physical, emotional, and mental obstacles through the therapeutic benefits of classical martial arts. Our goal is to help each student develop his or her potential via this fun, challenging, and potentially lifelong endeavor.

We work with adults and adolescents of all cultural backgrounds who suffer from developmental disabilities including, but not limited to Mental Retardation, Autistic Disorder, Rett’s Disorder, Asperger’s Disorder, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder.

We offer weekly, hour-long martial arts classes in Karate and Judo designed to offer recreation, physical exercise, development of physical balance and coordination, self-esteem, somatosensory integration, social skills training, and community safety skills.

The Mountain Tiger Society is already a success with our students, but we need your help to expand our services. Eventually, we hope to establish a permanent facility and extensive class schedule. For now, we’re hoping to simply keep the lights on and outfit our students with the proper training attire. Your generous donation will help us ensure that this much needed program continues to serve this wonderful and special population.
