Mountain Peace Shelter

Established in 1986, Mountain Peace Shelter (formerly known as Park County Crisis Center, Inc.) is a private 501 (c) (3) non-profit agency.  Our services are confidential. We work closely with other agencies (Victim Advocate Program, Department of Human Services, and Sheriff’s Office), local churches and community organizations to ensure that the client’s needs are met.

Our Programs and Services include:

Emergency Shelter
Mountain area shelter for women and children, as well as hotel vouchers for men and families in rural Park and mountain Jefferson counties.

Services for Shelter Residents:
Partnered with trained staff or volunteers, residents receive: Food, personal care items, career/clothing closet, Victims Compensation assistance, financial assistance, transportation assistance, personalized short and long term goal setting, medical/dental/optical/mental health referrals and assistance, life skills training, employment and housing assistance, as well as innovative, alternative health options.

24 Hour/7 Days a Week Crisis Hotline
Trained staff and volunteers provide a caring ear to listen for issues including but not limited to: domestic abuse and safety planning, suicide counseling, and referrals to local resources for basic needs (food, clothing, rent and utility assistance).

Safe Pets
Pets are family.  Many people will not leave an abusive situation for fear that their pets may be injured or killed to get back at them. Mountain Peace Shelter is one of the only shelters in Colorado where pets can come and be with their humans.  Mountain Peace has on-site facilities for dogs and cats and foster homes for horses and larger animals.  Mountain Peace knows the importance of keeping all family members together and safe.

Often times men call on our crisis hotline for support, referrals and resources. Men who are victims of crime or who are homeless can be provided with hotel vouchers for emergency housing. Due to social stigma, it is very difficult for men to admit that they are victims of abuse and to seek out help and safety.

We need your help.  We are not a government agency and are funded by grants and private donations.  With limited resources, Mountain Peace Shelter does its best to serve anyone who is in crisis and in need of safety and support.  Your generous donation will enable us to help others in crisis.
